追求义 [Pursue After Righteousness]

Book: 1 Peter (New Testament)
Author: Peter

1 Peter 3:9 :“not returning evil foe evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.”
1 Peter 3:10 :“For* ‘He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.”
1 Peter 3:11 :“Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.”
1 Peter 3:12 :“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.'”

Today’s Meditation: God only reward those who do good deeds. Thus, we need to behave well to receive His blessings. One’s speech reveals his life. Thus, we need to cure our way of speaking before pursuing onto the way of truth. We need to control our mind before we can control our speaking. A Christian who is enthusiastic of pursuing spiritual life will run on two courses- one to avoid sins, and another towards peace. As we turn away from evil and do good, we will gain self-discipline. Seeking for peace and pursue after it can ensure our social relationships. The real peace is about fixing the relationships with God first, then we will have peace in us before we bring peace to people. A way to defeat sinful acts is not to defend it. Your defence will rekindle the fuel and consequently bringing more sins. God’s eyes are on us, and He listens to us. His visage reveals light because He cares about us. So how can we ignore His wills? It is totally up to our choices to have blessing or disaster. Blessing requires us to do good and be righteous. Disaster means receiving no blessing from God. If we cannot treat others like the way Bible teaches, we will lose our blessing from God. God only focus on righteous people. Therefore, we cannot receive the blessing if we do bad.

*You may refer to Psalm 34:12~14.
