[Edify People in Fellowships]

Book: 1 Corinthians (New Testament)
Author: Paul

1 Corinthians 14:16 :“Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say ‘Amen’ at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you say?”
1 Corinthians 14:17 :“For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified.”

Today’s Meditation: The prayer, praise and worship, blessing and preaching must be well considered to fit the feeling of the fellow occupants. Low volume of speaking and inappropriate words for certain situations must be avoided. Verse 16 strongly proves that “Amen” is used in the fellowship to have resonance with people. Many Christian organisations are accustomed to solemn silence and only whisper “Amen” at the end of prayer. Such case lacks of the fusion sense in the fellowship. We not only need to know how to edify people in our preach, but also to edify people in our prayer and thanksgiving. We must have a mind to edify people before doing anything. This brings out the principle of love in 1 Corinthians 13:5, “does not seek its own”.
