与基督一同得荣耀 [Glorified Together with Christ]

Book: Romans (New Testament)
Author: Paul

Romans 8:17 :“and if children, then heirs—— heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”

Today’s Meditation: “children” tells our identity for having a father-children relationship with God; “heirs” tells our blessing where we can bear the abundance of God especially the ultimate glory. This is not our fantasy but an actual witness in the Bible which is also witnessed by Spirit. “children” is an unconditional identity while “heirs” comes with condition, which is to suffer with Christ. The living of Spirit in us and Its working are the guarantee for us to inherit the glorious inheritance. Spirit also allows us to taste the feeling of inheriting the glorious inheritance. Only the children of God can inherit the glorious inheritance. This shows that only a holy life and the join of profound mystery are the only foundation to inherit the glory. John 1:12~13 tells us that those who were born of blood or the will of the flesh or the will of man have no chance to inherit. The path of glorious heirs is to suffer with Christ and be glorified together with Him. The cross is the only way to the glory. We cannot escape the death on the cross if we sincerely want to enjoy the blessing of heirs. There is no exception on Christ or us for it is the will of Father. We may not like suffers, but we need suffers in our life. Suffers are the exemplification of graces. We should not be troubled about being suffered. If we suffer with Christ, we will be glorified with Him together.
