The Meaning of Love (1)]

Book: 1 Corinthians (New Testament)
Author: Paul

1 Corinthians 13:4 :“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;”

Today’s Meditation: The love of God is different than the love of human. The love of human is temporary and comes with conditions. The love of parents is regarded as the highest degree of love among human, but it might still change. But the love of God suffers long. He loves us till the end without changing. Love can tolerate others’ unreasonable treatment while giving others generously. Such love is the heart of how Jesus treats us. It is among of the fruit of the Spirit and the behaviour of Paul as recorded in 2 Corinthians 6:6. We need longsuffering and kind love in ministries of church. We cannot minister together peacefully without these. We all have different grace of Spirit when ministering. Thus, it is predictable to have envy in the process. The reason behind this is due to the lack of love because “love does not envy”. Love is not to possess envy towards others’ spiritual improvement or different grace of Spirit; love is to cherish for others. Boasting and arrogant is the carnal actions. It will bloat our body and cause damage to our spiritual life. In the end, we would have ruined the ministry of God.
