长老 [Elders]

Book: 1 Peter (New Testament)
Author: Peter

1 Peter 5:1 :“The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed:”

Today’s Meditation: Elders in church are not the glorious position, but are mission handled to people who are willing to witness for the sufferings of Christ. Elders are not officers, but people who tell others why Christ suffered for them and are willing to suffer for Christ. Only those who spiritually see the sufferings of Christ are eligible to be elders to look after the believers who suffer for the will of God. There are some so-called servants of God who belittle the truth of the cross. They focus only on Christ’s resurrection and life instead of witnessing for the sufferings of Christ. In fact, there is no resurrection without the cross. Acts 3:15 tells us that there is no witness of Christ’s resurrection if there is no witness for Christ’s sufferings. We suffer before getting glory. Only those who are willing to suffer for the Lord can share His glory in future. We will receive the same glory as Lord has.
