轭 [Yoke]

Book: 2 Corinthians (New Testament)
Author: Paul

2 Corinthians 6:14 :“Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?”

Today’s Meditation: Christians have different foundation on faith and life goal with the unbelievers. We cannot yoke together with unbelievers with different directions we walk. A forced matching only brings suffer. This clearly tells us that Christians cannot marry with unbelievers or become business partner. This is due to the fact that they have different life in them. A forceful matching only cause frequent difficulties. This is the will of God that we cannot disobey to maintain our relationship with God. We have different perspectives, viewpoints, moral standards and standards of right or wrong with unbelievers. Placing unbelievers with us under same yoke either breaks the yoke or having us misled by them because the believed can be dragged along with the unbelievers. Even the greatest moral person on earth will not know what is righteousness. We can have conflicts with unrighteous easily with different perspectives in life. Communication can only occur when the righteous fall to unrighteous. One who is blessed by God is one who sees. He cannot have communion with those in darkness from the aspects of philosophies, theories, opinions and life concepts. Bible does not restrict such relationship. We should follow the teaching in Colossians 1:28 to bring the unbelievers to God through such relationship and make them disciples.
