知识和爱心 [Knowledge and Love]

Book: 1 Corinthians (New Testament)
Author: Paul

1 Corinthians 8:1 :“Now concerning things offered to idols: we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.”

Today’s Meditation: We all have spiritual knowledge. The problem is not at how much spiritual knowledge we have, but at how do we use those knowledge. Spiritual knowledge, biblical knowledge and even spiritual grace can puff us up. ‘puff up’ and ‘edify’ are against one another. Puff up means expand (in original Scripture) until breaking point, while edify can build us. The outcome of both are against one another too. Puff up brings corruptions, while edify brings eternity. The actions of Christian is not based on his knowledge but also his love. Our actions based on knowledge may not be known by others, but our actions based on love can touch one’s heart. We are useless if we have all sorts of knowledge without love. We are valueless if we have tonnes of graces without love. Knowledge and grace will come to the end one day, but love lasts forever.
