靠主站立 [Stand by Lord]

Book: 2 Corinthians (New Testament)
Author: Paul

2 Corinthians 4:8 :“We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;”
2 Corinthians 4:9 :“persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed——”

Today’s Meditation: The tribulations and persecutions we face are incomparable to those encountered by Paul. Paul did not get crushed or was in despair, thus we should not even lose our will to fight and wait to be crushed. There might not be a way out, but God can open a way for us from heaven. We might lose all our ideas, but God Himself is our ideas and way. It is the beginning for God to work when we reached the end. Thus, God will not open a way for us when we can still walk. The four ‘but’ and ‘yet’ in these two verses tell the profound mystery of Christians’ life. We have the resurrection life of Christ in us, thus we can stand still for the Lord when we are in adversities. We might be persecuted from the outside, but we have the ability to cope from the inside. The persecutions from outside reveal the power in us. All persecutions are made to train us to attain the resurrecting life. The servants of God do not seek for his own troubles. He does not escape when he is in trouble. We must admit that God trained us to be purer and fit His use.
