[Pass Down]

Book: 2 Timothy (New Testament)
Author: Paul

2 Timothy 2:2 :“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

Today’s Meditation: Teachings are passed from one generation to another generation by faithful one. Although each one of us may have our own Bible, but not all of us can read the truth directly out of the Bible. Thus, we need to treasure the spiritual resources left by previous generation and think through their resources. Some preachers claim that we do not need to read any spiritual books aside from the Bible. This is an extreme thought and should be ignored. If there is no necessity to read spiritual books, then we can ignore the words from preachers as well. Preachers should be responsible to spread truth and establish churches instead of their own fame. Thus, they should not have the mindset of having their own work territories which disallows other co-workers to involve. Preachers should also focus on finding their successors aside from shepherding people. This is to ensure the truth of God can be passed down to the other generations. A preacher who is not willing to pass on his roles is disloyal. He should commit his role to faithful men who will be able to teach others, but not to the men who are good with him in order to establish more personal influence. A loyal servant not only believes that he is being utilised by the Lord, but also believes that many are being utilised by God as well.
