遵行上帝的约 [Obey the Covenant of God]

Book: Jeremiah (Old Testament)
Author: Jeremiah

Jeremiah 11:4 :“which I commanded your fathers in the day I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey My voice, and do according to all that I command you; so shall you be My people, and I will be your God,”

Today’s Meditation: Iron furnace refers to the furnace used to forge iron, as well as describing the suffers of Israelites in Egypt. This covenant was given to the Israelites led by Moses from Egypt, also known as Old Testament. God restated this covenant towards the disobeying Judah because He wanted to bring them to Him through His mercy. This covenant carried a condition that is different from New Testament. This covenant was meant for the Israelites to commit and obey, where the condition cannot be cast away. Even though we are living in the New Testament, we still have to have the spirit of obedience from the Old Testament.
